Before I could determine what is my current biggest goal I want to focus on, I did some studies about goal setting.
I came across a theory: The Four Burners Theory, basically it says to focus on one goal at a time, once you found your most important goal, pause on the less important things, recognize your own priority and focus on that prioritized goal. I particularly like theory, as I understand most of the time, I could not fulfill my goals due to I was pursuing many goals at the same time and did not determine which goal was my biggest priority.
Once goal is determined and prioritized, it is time to understand the difference between goal and system (this one I really like to share the article I read and found it very helpful to me here).
Goal is like a direction you set for yourself, and a system is the one determining your progress to the direction you set.
In my case, I want to be a more mindful person, my goal is to write for my own website. My system is the meditating schedule that I need to follow each day (I write more about system in my another post).
I built a habit to meditate every weekday morning at 5.30am
This habit will help me to be a more mindful person.
(1) Postponing to start things I want to do (2) Having too many goals and do not prioritize which goal is most important (3) Set a goal but without a system to achieve it
I found too often these 3 are what making many people slow down on achieving their goals, so stop letting yourself to postpone the actions, and once you realize the limited time we have could not get us to pursue all goals at one time, it is time to consider prioritizing the goal and start one at a time for each goal.
Lastly, understand it is different between goal and system, setting a clear goal is not leading you to achieving it, setting up a system which leads to the correct direction (goal)
