June was rather a busy month for me, the JLPT N1 test was only 1 month away, though I have been reading Japanese articles in past few months during my transit of 1.5 hr from home to work, I know I could read Japanese passages faster than before,
I still need to prepare myself more for the N1 test, so that I could pass all the 4 sections (vocabulary / grammar / comprehension / listening).
Despite I had to work hard to prepare myself for the test, I did not want to make excuse to skip Yoga classes/events, June is full of Yoga events because International Day of Yoga falls on June, it is 21st June to be exact.
I went to many yoga events organized by various yoga schools and organizations, one interesting and the one I most anticipated was the outdoor event held by Pure Yoga. They are so professional in making the event a pleasant event to all participants, and I was given a 3 free complimentary passes to their studio.
In June, I could finally attend a Yoga session with both my best friends, had been trying my best to engage both of them to join me for a yoga session but always could not match the perfect time.
We had a good good first 75minutes ‘Rocket Yoga’ at Pure Yoga. Look at our sweaty faces after the session. It was fulfilling, not just from the good yoga session, but the great time I could spend with my good friends.
I guess I started to value more on the quality time we nowadays could hardly make out for friendship.
I also started my first class of Ashtanga Yoga, the first class with Priscilla (the instructor) was so great, I quickly fell in love with Ashtanga Yoga.
I appreciate that there is a fixed sequence of poses combined with breathing with each movement. I knew this will suit me well. The one thing that holds me bad is that Ashtanga Yoga poses sequence consists many difficult poses which some I think I could not possible to achieve in my life. But I want to challenge myself, and I want to practice it.
On 19th June, I could finally accomplish my first Tripod headstand pose (Sirsasana), though not perfect I was very happy with my own progress.
There will be more challenges to come next, all I need to do is to face them one by one with big smile.
I fell sick at the beginning of the month, after I came back from a business trip to Jakarta. It was hot days and I ate a lot of heaty food…
I had fever and bad cough that caused me to take a day medical leave. It was the first time after I joined this company for 9 months.
I need to make more effort to keep my mind and body staying strong, July is another month with packed schedules and business trips to attend to.
It is really a skill to juggle on work and personal life, I need more practice…
July was a month I got busy with work, attending to few customers’ complaints and making 2 business trips in total of 7 days.
Going for a business trip is kind of a love & hate thing to do.
Good things are the extra income for the month I could get, and some lucky times, I could meet my family and friends back in Malaysia (I travel mainly to Malaysia and Indonesia).
Bad things are the planning of the trips could sometimes be frustrating, and the trips could be exhausting, imagine the traffic congestion in Jakarta which could make you sit in the car for 2-4 hours to your meeting destination.
But I know that I could make my trips more favorable, I started to bring along my yoga mat towel for my recent 2 trips, and I practiced in the hotel when I got time, and I made some time for meditation, the meditation helps to calm my mind and bring balance life. I know business trip could be stressful but I also knew I have to embrace it as it is part of my work and it can help me achieve my financial goal faster.
2nd July was the test day for JLPT N1, I went for the test with higher confidence compared to when I sat the last test, though I am still not sure if I could pass the test this time… The test was really difficult for me.
But it was a different feeling sitting for the exam compared to last December, I was able to focus on the test through out the whole session, including the listening test, I was totally aware and was at the moment without much distraction.
I think it was the first time I felt so rewarded from my meditation and yoga practice, I was so happy when I realized this and almost forgot that I might fail the test (which was already my second attempt…), fingers-crossed till September when the test result be out…
I clocked lesser yoga practice time for July (28.9 hrs) compared to May and June, but I already expected it, I could not avoid the extra working time during my business trip, and the extra resting time my body needed.
Sometimes I just need to learn to be less stubborn, I have been a stubborn old man, forgetting to chill when it is time to embrace things that I cannot change.
I do not want to miss out to mention the joy I got when my teacher taught me Chin-stand pose, and I managed to do it after a few tries, it was on 17th July.
And of course the big joy I had when my good friend came to Singapore and we went for a trial yoga class at Trust yoga, it was a good catch up and definitely a good activity to do when meeting my friends.
Looking forward to the great month of August 🙂
