I am taking a look-back on how much have I progressed from my yoga practice since I started attending my first yoga class on 19th Mar 2017.
Since I started regular practice from May 2017, I started to build a habit to write a short ‘note’ after my each practice session. I wanted to record my own progress.
From a beginner who struggled touching own toes with straight back and legs, I want to know where am I now. Again, it is only my self-evaluation.
I gave myself a target to achieve a handstand after 1 year of practice. Though I may still be far from achieving it, I am satisfied with overall my progress and the health benefits I have been receiving from my practice.
Below are some highlights:
May-2017: Bakasana / Headstand
Jun-2017: Tripod headstand
Jul-2017: Chin stand / Pincha Maruyasana / Wheel with straight legs
Aug-2017: Marichyasana D
Sep-2017: Jump back and through for my Ashtanga vinyasa
Oct-2017: Nidrasana / Titibasana / Kapotasana
Nov-2017: Transition: Bakasana to Tripod with lotus to bakasana to Chaturanga dandasana
Dec-2017: Jump to Bhujapidasana from downward dog, chin down / Ashtanga yoga opening mantra
Jan-2018: King pigeon pose
I am still working on my target which I set for myself 9 months ago, so I bunny hop every day, hoping one day I can do a handstand without the help of wall. I practice Pincha Maruyasana everyday hoping one day I can cross my legs to Lotus.
I record my practice in my IG story here 🙂
I believe nothing is impossible, and that it is not a fact, it is an opinion. I am that believer.
