In my previous post, I mentioned a little about ‘spending money on getting experience, not things’
I would like to further write about this topic.
If we agree that experience can create more lasting happiness than owning a physical thing, then we should try to make more chance to get experience.
We will need platforms to help us get in touch with relevant experience we want to fill in our memory/life.
We need some exposures to something new, to meet new friends to get experience.
I remember the first 2 events / groups I joined were from Meetup.com
I joined one from Japanese conversation group, which because I wanted to practice my Japanese language
Another one I joined was the meditation group, after 4-5 sessions I have decided to continue the practice by myself and make it my daily habit, because I found meditation helps me in so many ways (I wrote about this here)
In this post, I am summarizing other platforms we can consider to use to attend more events of our interests.
I have been using below 3 websites to browse the updated events/workshops/seminars which I am interested to join, I was surprised many of the events I was interested are free of charge.
- Eventbrite (eventbrite.sg)
- Allevents.in (www.allevents.in/singapore#)
- Peatix (peatix.com/?lang=en-sg)
All of them are not limited to country of Singapore, especially allevents.in, you can choose which country you are at and start searching for events by country.
Among the 3, I used Eventbrite the most, many interesting events were posted by different organizers related to my interested topic (I am talking about Yoga), in month of May itself, I have registered for 8 Yoga sessions/events from Eventbrite, most of them are free of charge, some are by donation basis (which I am very pleased to attend and donate for good cause) or by discounted price because the organizers want to promote their service.
As you browse through the available events, I found some interesting one which I was not expecting to attend but I decided to explore. I believe it is the interesting part of all. It is like shopping for experience.
Now, I constantly check if there is any new events from the 3 platforms so that I do not miss out some exciting ones.
Below are the screenshots of my accounts in the 3 websites:
Happy shopping, for experience!
